Who I am

Who the heck is Betsy Paret?

I was a military kid who grew up on or near Navy bases in Connecticut and Northern California. My dad was a career Navy officer (submarines) during the Cold War. His service to our country inspired me to become a public servant for the federal civil service.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Public Administration degree in Washington, DC.

I started my professional career working for a nonprofit court reform organization for 5 years before working for the federal courts for 33 years. I managed budgets the same size as Milton's annual budget. As a fiscal conservative, I always approached spending taxpayer dollars with great care and restraint.

While visiting Vermont, we found a house we loved in Milton and moved here in 2015. I am happily married with one adult son who lives in the Northeast Kingdom. My parents live nearby in Plattsburgh, NY.

We live on a farm in West Milton with our 3 rescue dogs, 14 goats, 6 alpacas, and 13 chickens. We are proud to call Milton our home.
